My New Nephew is Home

My new little nephew is home from the hospital! He was born early at 34 weeks, so he had to spend about 2 weeks fattening up before he could home. So we are all, especially his big brother and sisters, so glad to have him at home!

I had so much fun wuth this precious princess! She had the cutest little voice and made lots of sweet newborn baby sounds. Her Mom likes her in purple, so I made the plum purple bunny ears hat especially for her session. And since she is a December baby, Mom had the cute pink Santa hat for her as well :-)

These are my nieces and my little sister. We had a great time taking pics today...normally the little one does not like to have her picture taken, but she was OK with it as long as she was playing peek a boo or jumping of kissing her momma or hugging her sister. Fine with me, no posing for you! And the older one LOVED to pose for the camera...Either way, we got lots of great shots!

Take Two! More Surf Lessons Today!

Today was day two of our surf lessons. I originally planned on two lessons per kiddo, but we are going to do three becasue the boys are loving it so much! Hailey realy enjoyed her experience yesterday, but decided to sit out of today's festivities. So, I took her place! Yep, can't believe it, I am a surfer! It was actually harder than I expected it to be, which made me even prouder of my kids! They popped right up, I was completely happy riding the waves in on my belly :) It was actually quite an accomplishment (I felt) to be able to get on the board and balance side to side, get pushed onto the wave, and keep my center of gravity back far enough on the board as to not "nose-dive" right into the wave. The waves were choppier toay than yesterday, but the boys managed to get to their feet a few times still. An all around great experience! Thanks again "Down to Earth Surf and Stretch".

Summer Surfing Lesons!

This kids had surfing lessons today for the first time! As California natives, it was about time, right? My kiddos range from age 8 to 15. This was the first summe activity that all three were excited about! We went with "Down to Earth Surf and Stretch", a surfing and yoga business run by three terrific locals. The kids started with lessons on the beach about safety and learned how to "pop up" on the board. Then it was off to the waves! All three got into a standing position the firt try! I am so proud of them! The kids got a bit tired, and some water up the nose, so they enjoyed a couple of breaks in between waves. They also liked watching each other surf. Thank you Bobbie, Logan and Francis, can't wait for tomorrow's lesson!

I just got my first "smart phone." The iphone4 has a camera on the front, so you can take a picture of yourself and see what you are doing! So now, my daughter and I go around taking pics of ourselves where ever we may be. So much fun! Finally I will be included in the vacation pictures (albeit close up!)

Well, during a break in the downfall, we took a few outdoor shots of my niece who is already 9 months old! She is so fluffy I can hardley stand it! Then we headed inside and got a fewe of Miranda who is almost 14 weeks old now. I thought the white blanket would really compliment her fawn coloring with white flash.

This is my favorite photo of Miranda so far! I am so happy it turned out, she was looking cute and I grabbed the nearest camera: my old rebel with a kit lens set at iso 800, in this light at f5.6 (the widest I can open up in the kit lens while zoomed in) I had to shoot at 1/25 of a second, far too slow for a moving target. Fortunately for me, Miranda held her gaze long enough to get a sharp shot! This IS Miranda!

She is getting so big so fast! No surprise I suppose. We think she is gaining about 5-6 ounces a day! Sshe is getting more and more behaved. She loves to play with her Monkey stuffed animal, she fetches, sits, lays down and stays (for a few seconds). She sleeps all night happily. She looks so serious in these pics, she doesn't like the look of my camera!

She is getting so big already! And she sleeps so well now too. Last night she slept from 11pm-7am, and I didn't wake up when she yawed or rolled over, yay! She had her right ear all funny this morning, see sticking up and pointing forward? Very funny puppy. Just finished a play session and now she is sleeping.
